Automated data migration for a multi-month Odoo implementation

For Kuhn Design, CONSENSO TECH developed an automated data migration to provide up-to-date data from the legacy system regularly during the ongoing Odoo implementation. Test data could therefore be refreshed continuously, migration logic validated early and go-live risk reduced.

At Kuhn Design, Odoo is being introduced step by step over several months. During this time the company continues to work in its existing legacy system. That creates the challenge that master data and operational data change continuously while configuration, testing and process validation take place in Odoo in parallel.

CONSENSO TECH developed an automated data migration for this. The solution transfers relevant data from the legacy system into Odoo repeatedly and ensures the project team can work with current test data. At the same time, the migration logic is validated early and improved continuously, rather than being run once shortly before go-live.

With this approach the migration is not treated as a one-off end-of-project step but as a continuous process spanning the entire implementation phase. That reduces risk, improves test quality and creates a more stable foundation for the productive system change.
