Selecting site-appropriate tree and shrub species means taking many specialist criteria into account: origin, growth height, suitability for streets, biodiversity value, site requirements, regional suitability and further ecological or practical characteristics. This information existed in structured plant lists but was not optimally accessible for practical use.
CONSENSO TECH developed a tree finder for Nateco as a web application. The underlying plant lists were extracted from Excel files, normalised and converted into a structured JSON/JavaScript data model. A search and filter interface was built on top of it, working on both desktop and mobile.
Users can filter, sort and search plants by various criteria. Detail views show key information such as scientific and German name, origin, growth height, crown shape, root form, growth, suitability for streets, biodiversity values, site requirements, regional suitability and further notes. Results can also be exported as CSV.
